Tuts for 2012 will address courses 6/7004 (interpreting texts), 6/7005 (Leadership) and 6/7006 (HIV). These run on a monthly basis from February to September. We tackle one course per month, allocating one morning per assignment. So, we work in some depth on each assignment, making sure to learn some key theological principles and skills relevant to the course, before digging into the meat of the assignments. We share fellowship and food, in a beautiful setting, and often communicate via phone or email between meetings
The tutorial group is hosted by Prof Adrian van Breda, who is the course advisor for 6/7006 (Christian responses to HIV) and also a marker for 7401 (which concludes the BTh). The tuts are held on Saturdays, from 09:00 to 12:30, at St Martins Anglican Church, King St, Irene, Centurion. You are invited to join us for informal Morning Prayer at 8am.
For further enquiries, please contact Marti Slater, parish secretary and a member of the tutorial group, at 012 667 2180 in the mornings or via email her at stmartins@mweb.co.za. You can access updates and details about the tuts at www.adrian.vanbreda.org/TEEC.htm. Changes to the tutorial programme will be announced on the website, so it is wise to confirm on that page that the tutorial is taking place.
Notes:
1. Before each tutorial, ensure that you:
o Complete the required reading for the assignments that will be our focus, and
o
Make at least some progress with preparing the
assignments.
(Don’t pitch up just to sponge off others who have done their preparation.)
o Prepare a list of specific questions that you would like to discuss (bearing in mind that it might not be possible to address all of everyone’s questions).
2. Bring to each tutorial class all of your workbooks, assignment booklets and draft assignments. Also note paper and pens.
3. We take turns to provide snacks. St Martins will provide for the first meeting in February.
4. We regret that it is not possible for us to provide tutorials for all of the courses. You may be able to access tutorials for other courses at one of the other tutorials in Johannesburg. Else, speak directly with your marker who is available to provide some additional assistance.
